A Walk, a Smile, and a New Perspective !

      Greetings!
One ordinary day, I visited the Fort area in Mumbai for personal errands. While walking toward Bombay Hospital, I noticed a group of children living on the streets near Azad Maidan Road. They were homeless, yet their faces glowed with a wonderful smile.

That smile stopped me in my tracks. It made me feel two things at once—joy and shame. Their pure, unfiltered joy was contagious, but it also made me reflect on my own life choices. What was I doing with my life? I realized I had been postponing my happiness, blaming myself, and lamenting the state of the world without truly living or appreciating life.

Life is How You See It

Sometimes, a small moment is all it takes to transform your outlook. For me, it was seeing those children. Their joy, despite having so little, reminded me of a fundamental truth: happiness is not about material possessions but about gratitude, resilience, and inner peace.

We often waste our lives worrying about past mistakes or fearing an uncertain future. But happiness, I’ve learned, is an inside job—it depends not on what we have but on how we choose to see life.

Instead of constantly competing and striving for more, I now focus on good health, satisfaction, and living in the present moment. God gave us this precious life for a reason, and it’s up to us to make the most of it.

Gratitude and Reflection

These children, with their humble yet powerful smiles, changed my life. Their financial situation might be dire, but their spirit is priceless. Their kindness, resilience, and joy are a testament to the strength of the human spirit.

I don’t offer them sympathy because their lives are beyond my comprehension. Instead, I honor them for the lesson they taught me: true wealth lies in gratitude, perspective, and living each moment to its fullest.

Let’s stop focusing on what we lack and start appreciating what we have. The challenges we face are universal, but how we overcome them defines our journey. Let’s live every moment with joy, gratitude, and hope.

Homeless, Not Hopeless

PS: I was so engrossed in the moment that I didn’t even realize I had forgotten to take their picture. Here’s a photo I found on Pinterest that reminds me of them. I chose to share it here because it captures the essence of their spirit.

Thank you!
